PRESS RELEASE: 27.07.09
GAINSBOROUGH COMMUNITY HAS ITS SAY ON NEW NEIGHBOURHOOD PLANS
Plans to be displayed next at Gainsborough Library
Hundreds of local Gainsborough residents have attended a two-day public exhibition event at Marshall’s Yard on plans for a new Southern Neighbourhood in the town. Attendees were able to talk in person with members of the planning
team and view a 3-D scale model of the proposals.
The Gainsborough Southern Neighbourhood plans could provide new homes, schools, shops, offices, employment land, medical facilities, lakes and managed
green space. It would also lead to improvements to existing roads and new bus,
pedestrian and cycle routes to key locations such as the town centre.
To give the community another opportunity to view the proposals, an unstaffed exhibition will be held over the next three weeks at Gainsborough Library, on Cobden Street, starting Tuesday 28 July.
Tom Aylmer, from Thonock and Somerby Estates, said:
“We want to maximise opportunities for local people to comment and get involved in the development of plans that will be instrumental in shaping Gainsborough’s future as a market town.
Tom Aylmer continued:
“We will take account of all the feedback received so far, but the consultation does not end at the public exhibition. Thousands of consultation leaflets are being sent to Gainsborough homes this week so that we can take account of views from across the Gainsborough community. I would therefore encourage everyone to tell us what they think.”
