PRESS RELEASE: 14.07.09
HAVE YOUR SAY ON NEW GAINSBOROUGH NEIGHBOURHOOD
Developer Thonock and Somerby Estates is encouraging local residents to come to a public exhibition and have their say on plans for the new Southern Neighbourhood in Gainsborough.
The Southern Neighbourhood is the first phase of exciting plans for sustainable growth in Gainsborough. The proposals will play a pivotal role in ensuring that Gainsborough can go on to prosper and flourish as a Lincolnshire market town.
The new neighbourhood will be supported by substantial new infrastructure, including education, leisure and medical facilities, employment opportunities and a green and sustainable transport plan. New housing will cater for a range of local needs, with a special emphasis on family, first-time buyer and continuing care homes.
Inward investment in retail, office and employment land at the proposed development would provide many new jobs for the local community. Jobs will also be created for local construction firms and their supply chains.
A public exhibition of the plans will be held at Marshall’s Yard, Beaumont Street, Gainsborough on Friday 24 July between 10am and 4pm and Saturday 25 July between 10am and 3pm.
Images of the proposed development will be on show and members of the development team will be available to answer questions.
Leaflets containing information on the proposals will also be available and visitors will be asked to give their feedback on the plans.
Tom Aylmer, from Thonock and Somerby Estates commented:
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to exhibit the plans for the Southern Neighbourhood development and would encourage anyone with an interest in the proposals to come and have their say.
“The Gainsborough Regained Masterplan provides an amazing opportunity for the town and we hope to gain as much feedback as possible on the proposals so far.
“We believe that the proposals will play a pivotal role in ensuring that Gainsborough can continue to be a prosperous and flourishing market town for many years to come.”
A planning application for the Southern Neighbourhood is likely to be submitted later in the summer.
